I’m a lesbian in a wheelchair. I always thought this meant my chances at dating was pretty much nonexistent. Lesbians already have a limited enough dating pool, and I was scared nobody would want to date the girl in the wheelchair for reasons other than pity.
Then I met my girlfriend, who’s blind and had similar concerns. Most people don’t even know how she COULD be gay, since she’s blind (oddly enough, straight blind people don’t seem to be asked the same thing).
We’re both disabled in different ways, but we’ve learned to live with said disabilities and make it work. We support each other’s unique needs and we KNOW neither of us are dating the other out of pity. It helps we have similar interests (because disabled people are more than just disabled).
I love her.
Love <3
